Which Type of Heater is Right For You?
To help you find the portable heating solution that’s right for you, we are here to guide you through the different options and uses. At Cross Hire Services, we have an extensive range of heaters for sale or for hire – all of which provide a quick and easy heating solution for any site.
We tailor our heating solutions to your exact needs, taking full advantage of the vast industry experience that our team of engineers has to offer. We’ll work with you to determine the most suitable portable heater for you, as well as which will be the right fuel type too.
Our options include:
Direct-Fired Heaters
Our portable oil and gas direct-fired heaters are the best options for:
- Factories
- Warehouses
- Loading bays
- Sports halls
- Garages
- Farm buildings
- Churches
This type of portable heater is not suitable for areas where there is limited ventilation, nor if combustible materials are close by. This is because, as the fuel burns, these heaters produce large amounts of hot air that is then blown out.
Electric Heaters
A portable electric heater is the best option for:
- Offices
- Shops and showrooms
- Hotels
- Garages
- Industrial units
- Classrooms
- Clinics
- Building sites
- Marquees and tents
- Storerooms
- Workshops
- Ships
- Switching stations
- Temporary accommodation
- Modular buildings
A portable electric heater makes life simple. In most instances, all you need is a power socket. For larger areas, however, three-phase models are also available – and these output large volumes of heat. And there are no exhaust gases or smells – just a large amount of safe, fume-free heat.
Fuel Types
LPG Butane
This is a natural gas that you would normally use indoors because it freezes at 0ºC. It can’t, therefore, power heaters in harsh conditions.
LPG Propane
Propane is most often used outdoors because of its tolerance to extreme temperatures – as low as -42ºC! Propane gas will also deliver a higher heat output per kilogram of gas, in comparison to LPG Butane.
Diesel Oil
Diesel oil is an economical option when heating medium or large areas. If using Red Diesel for heating purposes, it is exempt from duty.
Electricity
Our electric heaters give quick, fast, clean and efficient portable heat. They are also suitable for almost all environments too. Our range of electric heaters are made to a high standard and comply with all European standards. You can choose from our range of 110V, 230V and three-phase electric heaters.
Electricity is technically the most efficient fuel source because it will convert 85-95% of the energy into heat. This type of heater is most suitable for heating smaller spaces.
Ventilation fans
Good ventilation is key in a safe and comfortable working environment. Rugged, robust and easy to use, our range of ventilation and extraction fans make sure you receive a continuous supply of fresh air – often a legal requirement. In addition, these fans also remove potentially harmful materials and odours – such as:
- Dust
- Carbon monoxide
- Paint vapours
- Welding fumes
- Carbon dioxide
- Water vapour
- Dehumidifiers
Dehumidifers
Moisture in the air can often be a factor to consider. Left unchecked, it can cause damp, condensation, nasty smells and be unpleasant to anyone in a specific space. It can also damage materials too. Our range of dehumidifiers, therefore, are on hand to circulate the air, while removing the moisture in a cost-effective manner.
