General Rental Questions

What areas do Cross Rental Services Group cover?
We can supply HVAC and temperature control units and refrigeration and other catering equipment to the UK and Ireland, across our two divisions.

Is there a minimum or maximum rental period?
Our mimimum rental period is 1 week, but we have many clients that rent equipment from us up to 12 months or beyond. It really depends on your business need.

How long can I rent for?
We offer flexible rental contracts, which can range from a week to 12 months and beyond depending on the type of product you wish to hire. If you get in touch with us, a member of our sales team will tailor a rental package that suits your exact needs.

Are there any up-front costs to pay?
Yes, there are. We require full payment prior to delivery if you hire on a short-term basis (up to 12 weeks). For longer-term rental contracts, we require the first month's payments plus full transport costs in advance. If you are a new customer ordering for the first time on a long term contract, we require the first three (3) months' payments in full plus full transport costs in advance of delivery.

Can I purchase equipment at the end of my contract?
We are primarily a rental company, but we do offer purchase options if requested at the end of the hire period. Contact our sales department for a quotation when your contract is up for renewal.

Is insurance included within a rental contract?
Yes – with our optional damage waiver insurance. This small extra charge can be taken at the hire contract stage and it will cover you against any accidental damage (beyond standard wear & tear) that might occur during the hire period.

What is the rental cost and are there any additional fees?
The rental cost will vary depending on equipment needed and how long they are required, however all quoted prices from our team will include delivery and collection and there are no hidden charges. We also provide bundled packages for many of our clients including all ancillaries, fuel management and generators, as needed.

Our Rental Products

Do you supply domestic hire equipment for home use?
Our main focus is on commercial and industrial grade equipment, but we do supply a selection of heaters, air conditioners, air purifiers, electric boilers and dehumidifiers that are suitable for temporary domestic use, such as after construction or a flood. Please contact a member of our sales team for more specific questions, or have your contractor contact us directly.

Where can I find out the exact specifications of my equipment?
We include specification sheets for each product online and we also send these with the original quotation. If you can’t find the information you require then please speak to a member of our technical team.

I can’t find the product I wish to hire on your website. Can you help?
Our website shows our core range of rental products, but do call us if you can’t find what you’re looking for and we’ll be happy to discuss your exact needs with you.

What are the power requirements for the equipment?
Most of our smaller HVAC equipment works on single phase. We do have products that require 3 phase electric, and carry 110V for site specific applications. Call us to discuss your specific requirements and we can help you map out the power requirement and outlets needed for your site or business.

Service and Maintenance

Do I have to pay for any service costs during the rental period?
No – we offer an all in rental package. Our equipment hire contracts come with a full service warranty for the entire duration of the contract. We cover any labour or parts costs required in the event of a breakdown during that time.

If my unit breaks down, how long does it usually take for an engineer to arrive on site?
We aim to have an engineer on site within 2 working days after we receive a service call, unless the problem can be resolved over the phone following our trouble-shooting guides.

What is the procedure for logging service calls?
You will find our dedicated service number on your hire equipment. Call this number and provide us with the cabinet serial number and we’ll arrange for a local engineer to come and investigate the problem if it can’t be resolved over the phone.

Deliveries and Collections

Do you allow customers to transport the equipment using their own vehicles?
It really depends on the size of the unit, some of our larger items can only be moved with specialist equipment, to ensure it arrives undamaged and returns to our warehouse in the same condition.

Can you provide any advice prior to delivery of the hire equipment?
Before we deliver any equipment, please let us know if there are any obstructions that could pose a problem – e.g. parking restrictions for articulated vehicles; narrow doorways; steps, lifts or stairs etc. If you provide us with these details at the order stage, we’ll make sure your delivery goes as smoothly as possible.

How long does it take to deliver after an order is placed?
After an order is placed and the necessary paperwork is complete, Cross Hire Services usually deliver within 3-5 working days. This is subject to stock availability and the equipment required.

What days do you deliver and collect equipment?
Our normal deliverly and collection to and from areas across Ireland are between Mondays and Fridays, excluding bank holidays. But for emergency call out, and specific projects we will deliver on site out of hours. Please call us on 1800 247 266 (IRL) and we can discuss your specific project and site needs.

What time shall I expect the unit to arrive?
We deliver and collect hire equipment between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 unless specified at the order stage. If you require delivery and/or collection at a specific time or out-of-hours let us know your preferred times when placing an order and we’ll do our utmost to meet these times (may subject to surcharges). We can usually provide a rough ETA 24 hours prior to delivery/collection and can ask the driver to call you an hour in advance if requested.
